Golfer Andrea Pavan discharged after elevator shaft fall

Andrea Pavan has been discharged from a South African hospital after a freak elevator shaft fall that left him with shoulder and back injuries. He will continue rehab in South Africa for about five weeks before returning to the U.S.

Andrea Pavan, 36, was hospitalized in South Africa after falling three stories into an elevator shaft during the DP World Tour’s Investec South African Open. He underwent shoulder and back surgeries and suffered fractures to several vertebrae.

Now discharged, Pavan will stay in the country for roughly five more weeks of rehabilitation before traveling back to the United States. He thanked supporters on social media and noted that walking again feels like a miracle.
