Rams Top Spartans 85-73

Colorado State used their hot shooting to overcome a spirited San Jose State team, securing an 85-73 victory in Mountain West play.

The Spartans (8-21, 3-15 MW) showed fight early, matching the Rams shot-for-shot in a high-scoring first half. Freshman Melvin Bell Jr. sparked San Jose with 12 first-half points, while Colby Garland finished with a game-high 28 points and eight assists.

Colorado State (17-11, 9-8 MW), however, proved too efficient with their shooting, finishing at 62% from the field and 53% from three. Brandon Rechsteiner's 15 first-half points, including five of six three-point attempts, helped the Rams pull away late despite San Jose briefly taking a 55-54 lead.
