Palou Dominates St. Pete to Open IndyCar Season

Defending IndyCar champion Alex Palou opened the 2026 season with a dominant victory at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix.

Palou started fourth and led by over 14 seconds before the final pit stop, eventually winning by nearly 13 seconds. Kyle Kirkwood finished second, while Scott McLaughlin and Christian Lundgaard rounded out the podium.

Chip Ganassi praised the team's preparation, noting the competition is working hard to close the gap. The race featured attrition, including a lap-one crash involving Sting Ray Robb and a second crash for Will Power.
