WNBA Union Sends Counterproposal with Revenue Sharing and Housing Concessions

The WNBA players’ union has sent a counterproposal to the league, proposing 26% of gross revenue and revised housing rules, with a deadline of March 10 to secure a season start.

The union’s new offer keeps its 26% share of gross revenue and reduces its earlier 27.5% demand, while still asking teams to provide housing for all players in the early years of the deal. In later years, teams would not be required to house players earning at least 75% of the maximum salary.

The league and union must reach an agreement by March 10 to allow the season to begin on schedule. If a deal is signed, the expansion draft for Portland and Toronto would take place April 1‑6, followed by free‑agent qualifying offers on April 7‑8 and a signing period April 12‑18.
