VAR Review & New Rules Before World Cup

Football's lawmaking authority Ifab has announced a two-year review of VAR while implementing new rules including expanded VAR use for corners and potential 'Vinicius Law' before the World Cup.

Football's lawmaking authority, the Ifab, is conducting a two-year review of the video assistant referee to ensure the technology is being used "to its best". The announcement comes alongside enhancements to the rulebook before the World Cup, including expanding VAR to determine corner kicks.

Another proposal could see punishments for players obscuring their mouths fast-tracked for implementation at this summer's tournament, following the alleged racist abuse of Vinícius Júnior by Benfica's Gianluca Prestianni.
