Maple Leafs Get First-Round Offer for Ekman-Larsson

The Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly received an offer including a first-round pick for defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson before the March 6 NHL trade deadline.

According to Oilers radio color commentator Bob Stauffer, the Maple Leafs have an offer on the table for Ekman-Larsson that would bring a first-round pick back to Toronto. While the source of the offer is unclear, it could potentially be from the Edmonton Oilers, who have been previously linked to the 34-year-old defenseman.

Despite the attractive offer, Ekman-Larsson prefers to stay with the Maple Leafs, as reported by Leafs' Nick Alberga: 'He loves Toronto. He wants to stay in Toronto. He wants to win in Toronto.' This season, Ekman-Larsson has eight goals and 27 assists in 59 games, but at age 34, his peak performance may have already passed.
