Illinois, Indiana Lawmakers Vote on Bears Stadium Bills Thursday

Lawmakers in Illinois and Indiana will vote Thursday on bills to bring a new Chicago Bears stadium to Arlington Heights or Hammond, respectively.

In Illinois, a House committee will hear an amended bill offering tax breaks for a potential Arlington Heights stadium, despite Governor JB Pritzker’s refusal to 'fleece' taxpayers. Indiana’s Senate is also expected to pass its bill to fund a stadium in Hammond.

Both legislatures could vote on the measures Thursday, as Chicago remains a potential contender for the franchise.
