Fitzgerald Proposes College Football Calendar Changes

Michigan State head coach Pat Fitzgerald outlined several proposed changes to the college football calendar during a recent podcast appearance.

During a podcast with ESPN analyst David Pollack, Fitzgerald suggested moving up the start of the season, implementing home playoff games similar to the NFL, and moving the national championship game to January 1st. He also proposed eliminating conference championship games and scheduling bowl games to be played one week after the regular season concludes.

The new Michigan State head coach emphasized the need for significant calendar changes in college football, pointing to successful models used in other levels of the sport like FCS and D2.
