Ohio State LB Sonny Styles shines at NFL combine

Former Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles wowed scouts at the NFL combine with historic metrics, including a 43.5-inch vertical jump.

Styles, projected to be a top-12 pick, posted a 4.46-second 40-yard dash and a 11-foot-2-inch broad jump. His vertical jump was just 1.5 inches off the all-time record, making him the only player over 240 pounds to clear 43 inches since 2003. Standing 6-foot-5 and 244 pounds, he compares physically to Calvin Johnson.

The 21-year-old's performance adds to his résumé following an 83-tackle season. His athletic background includes a high school basketball career with rim-shaking dunks, and he is the son of former NFL linebacker Lorenzo Styles Sr.
