Colts Grant Trade Permission to QB Richardson

The Indianapolis Colts have granted Anthony Richardson permission to seek a trade after he lost the starting quarterback competition to Daniel Jones.

The No. 4 pick of the 2023 draft, Richardson will likely look for a fresh start elsewhere after the Colts committed to Jones as their QB1 for 2026 and beyond. The 23-year-old has struggled with injuries and inconsistency in his young NFL career, posting a 47.7% completion rate in 2024 with 8 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 11 games.

Richardson's trade value remains uncertain as he has started just 15 games in his three-year career, missing time due to shoulder surgery and other injuries. With few starting-caliber QBs available in free agency, some teams may still be interested in the former first-round pick despite his struggles.
