Robert Lewandowsk is coming to the end of his contract at Barcelona and we still don’t know if he will be offered an extension or walk away on a free transfer.

There’s been talk that Barcelona could be willing to offer an extension if Lewandowski agrees to take a pay cut and the feeling in the striker’s homeland is that he does want to stay.

Polish journalist Mateusz Borek has claimed that Lewandowski has even set himself a target for between now and the end of the season as he bids to earn himself a new deal.

“I think he’s confused right now. He has received a very good economic offer from the Chicago Fire and knows that things will come from Arabia, but he wants to stay. His wife has set up several businesses in Barcelona, they have a new house and their children are happy. He would like to receive an offer or at least be clear about the ‘game over’ message,” he said on the Moc Futbolu program.

“Robert would be thinking that if he scores 10 goals between now and the end of the season, Barça could offer him a new contract.”

It seems quite an ambitious target for the 37-year-old as we head into the business end of the season. So far he’s managed 13 goals in 31 games and is in the midst of a bit of a dry patch.
