Saints add Clapp as offensive assistant

Recently retired offensive lineman and center Will Clapp will be joining the New Orleans Saints coaching staff in an offensive assistant capacity under head coach Kellen Moore. The team made the signing on Monday, just a week after Clapp announced his retirement from the league.

After being sidelined for the entire 2025 season with a season-ending injury sustained in the preseason, Clapp is officially joining a staff he worked closely with throughout his recovery this year.

Clapp, a New Orleans native, will stick around the Crescent City a little longer in his new role. He played prep football as a Crusader at Brother Martin High School before going on to play at the collegiate level in-state for LSU. Clapp was a three-year starter for the Tigers before being selected by the Saints in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He played the first four seasons of his career in New Orleans before spending time with both the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Chargers. Clapp’s retirement capped an eight-year NFL playing career, but opens the door to a new opportunity at the professional level.
