Following the official release of the Indian Wells draw, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff have seen how their paths through the tournament could unfold.
Sabalenka enters with plenty of momentum behind her, having already picked up a title and made another final in just two tournaments this year.
She’s compiled an 11-1 record so far in 2026, while Gauff comes into Indian Wells with a 10-4 mark.
Both players are top seeds—Sabalenka at number one and Gauff at four—so they’ll be expected to make deep runs in California.
Tricky draw lined up for Coco Gauff at Indian Wells
Indian Wells offers Gauff a real chance to get her season going, but like Sabalenka, she hasn’t been handed the easiest path.
The American also receives a bye in round one and could open against wildcard Bianca Andreescu, another former US Open champion.
In round three, Gauff might face Alexandra Eala again after recently beating the youngster in Dubai. Linda Noskova and Jasmine Paolini could then be waiting in the round of 16 and quarterfinals respectively.
To reach the final, Gauff may have to go through the top two seeds, potentially facing Sabalenka in the semifinals before a title showdown against Swiatek.
Swiatek and Rybakina draws stand out in stacked Indian Wells field
With a field as deep as this one, there aren’t many straightforward paths through the Indian Wells draw.
Swiatek, seeded second, shares her half with defending champion Mirra Andreeva. They could meet in the quarters, with a possible semi against Elena Rybakina waiting on the other side.
Before that, the Pole might have to get past Madison Keys and Jessica Pegula in back-to-back rounds.
Rybakina and Swiatek both have potential paths to a final against Sabalenka – though for Andreeva, it would be a repeat of last year’s title match.
Eala has an interesting path on her debut too. Sabalenka, Anisimova, and Osaka are all possible semifinal opponents for her. If she goes further than that, she might find herself up against one of Rybakina, Swiatek or Pegula in the final.
