Iowa State dive finishes 8th, swim finishes 9th at Big 12 Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Iowa State swim and dive team traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina to compete at the 2026 Big 12 Championships, which culminated on Saturday.  There, the Cyclones’ swim team placed ninth out of 10 scoring teams with 520 points over five days of action. The diving team finished eighth. Arizona State won the team title with 1,660 points followed by runner-up Arizona with 1,442 points and Houston in third with 1,194.5 points.

“When I look at where we started and where we are now, I couldn’t be prouder,” said head coach Matt Leach to Cyclones.com.

“Last year we scored 397 points, and this year we scored 520. The last time we had an A finalist was 2023, so we went from no A finalists to four. That growth is a credit to our seniors, our staff and the way this team stuck together all season. I’m proud of what we accomplished and excited about where we’re headed.”

Iowa State will be back in the pool on March 9-11 in College Station, Texas at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships.  Divers who earned zone qualifying scores will be there.  Swimmers will compete at the National Invitational Championships in Ocala, Florida on March 12-14 for swimmers that qualified for the meet.
