Unbeaten Texas Longhorns baseball remain No. 3 in Coaches Poll

There is only one undefeated team in the top ten of the newest USA TODAY Sports College Baseball Coaches Poll. That team is the Texas Longhorns. But UT is stuck at No. 3 in the newest ranking, behind two-loss UCLA and one-loss LSU.

The Longhorns have started the season a perfect 11-0, which includes a championship run in the BRUCE BOLT College Classic tournament at Daikin Park, home of the Houston Astros. UT even went vial this weekend when a 466-foot home run by Aiden Robbins hit the Phillips 66 choo-choo train in center field.

But so far, Texas hasn't been able to impress the voters enough to jump the Bruins and Tigers. UCLA has the hottest bat in the sport in former Longhorns outfielder Will Gasparino. Gasparino transferred from Austin to Westwood in the offseason and already has 13 homers this season.

He was instrumental in UCLA's 11-1 win over Texas A&M at the Texas Rangers Globe Life Park on Saturday. “My first school was the University of Texas and they took me in and made me feel like home,” Gasparino said after the game. “So, I think I owed it to those guys to put [A&M] to sleep early. I don’t go to Texas anymore, but I still don’t like those guys,"

The Longhorns beat No. 17 Coastal Carolina, Baylor and Ohio State this weekend in Houston. The Horns will face Houston Christian on Tuesday, then host South Carolina-Upstate this weekend.
