Robert Thomas is very much available to be traded from the St. Louis Blues before Friday's deadline, according to a whole bunch of rumors.

And apparently, the Montreal Canadiens are interested, but it wouldn't be cheap.

NHL insider Marco D'Amico reported a bunch of new details on Montreal going after Thomas in a new article on Monday.

"Sources indicate that the Canadiens are one of a handful of teams that are interested in acquiring Thomas from the Blues," D'Amico writes. "And it wouldn’t come cheap, according to what RG is hearing."

The Blues want Michael Hage, according to D'Amico.

Hage was the No. 21 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and is still just 19 years old, a talented right-shot forward.

The Blues apparently also like Kaiden Guhle.

"They’re looking for the equivalent of four first-round picks; mixed between roster players, picks, and elite NHL-ready prospects," D'Amico writes of what the Blues want in total for Thomas.

The Canadiens reportedly continue to engage, but Hage might be the problem.

"The major holdup on Montreal’s side appears to be the inclusion of Hage in any deal, as trading Hage would be a very expensive proposition, even though Thomas has won at every level," D'Amico writes.

The Canadiens made a splash in the summer to get Noah Dobson.

This would rank as a similar level of move, if they're bold enough to go for it.
