Ex-Gunner extends contract but injury rules him out for the season

Former Gunner Tyreece John-Jules has extended his contract with Kilmarnock FC, but the player is out for the remainder of the season with a quad injury.

In a very mixed update from Kilmarnock FC last week, the club confirmed both that Tyreece John-Jules has extended his contract, but also that he’s suffered a season-ending injury.

John-Jules had scored five goals and assisted a further two in his previous four appearances for the club, so it’s unsurprising the club were looking at extending the striker’s deal – which previously ran until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

But with the striker suffering a substantial quad injury in the last of those four appearances against Celtic on February 15th, he must have feared that he’d be released in the summer.

The bad news on John-Jules’ injury was confirmed by further assessments, with Kilmarnock revealing that he’ll now miss the rest of the season. Though they did add that they believe he’ll be back in time for the new campaign.

In a related update, the club confirmed John-Jules has put pen to paper on a one-year extension to the summer of 2027.

That’s an encouraging update for the 25-year-old, as he can now focus on getting fit with the knowledge he doesn’t have to search for a club again this summer.

In all, John-Jules racked up 10 goals and assists in his three-and-a-half months playing for Kilmarnock, which is a solid record and beats anything he’d managed in senior football with his previous clubs.

Injuries continue to plague the striker’s senior career, but things are steadily improving for him when he’s available.
