No. 1 Tennessee (19-0) won its finale in the Tennessee Invitational on Sunday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. The Lady Vols defeated Appalachian State (13-5), 6-2.
Karlyn Pickens started for the Lady Vols and pitches a complete game. She totaled 15 strikeouts, tying a career high, and 124 pitches (75 strikes) against 29 batters. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits, two runs (two earned), four walks, one home run and hit one batter.
Appalachian State hit four flyouts and two groundouts against Pickens.
Tennessee's offense totaled nine hits against the Mountaineers, including two doubles, one triple and one home run. Ella Dodge hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning. She totaled four RBIs.
The Lady Vols recorded four two-out RBIs and were 4-for-11 with two outs, 4-for-12 with runners on base and 3-for-10 with runners in scoring position. Tennessee leadoff batters recorded two hits in six at-bats.
Tennessee left seven runners on base.
The top-ranked Lady Vols will return to action on Tuesday against Belmont at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. First pitch for the in-state matchup is slated for 5 p.m. EST and can be watched on SEC Network+.
