Two fresh injury concerns have emerged for Manchester City after their crucial win over Leeds

Manchester City picked up a vital and hard-fought 1-nil win over Leeds United at Elland Road yesterday. Pep Guardiola’s side saw off a fast start from Daniel Farke’s side before gaining control of yesterday’s match. Antoine Semenyo’s goal on the stroke of halftime was enough for City to pick up a precious three points to maintain the pressure on Arsenal in this season’s title race. While yesterday’s win was huge for Manchester City, there were two fresh injury concerns to emerge for Pep Guardiola’s side ahead of their upcoming Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

Manchester City will be sweating over the fitness of Erling Haaland and Nico O’Reilly.

The first injury concern to emerge for Manchester City came ahead of kick-off yesterday. Erling Haaland wasn’t included in Manchester City’s matchday squad for yesterday’s match. Speaking with Sky Sports ahead of yesterday’s match, in quotes relayed by CityXtra, Pep Guardiola revealed that Haaland suffered an injury at training last week. Speaking on why Haaland missed yesterday’s match, Guardiola said: “Two days ago, in the last moments of training, he had some problems, a little injury. It’s not a big issue, but he’s not ready for today.

Norwegian reporter Jan Aage Fjortoft revealed that Haaland is expected to be available Manchester City’s upcoming match against Nottingham Forest.

Nico O’Reilly had to be substituted in the second half of yesterday’s match. The young midfielder looked to have suffered a minor ankle injury after receiving a tough challenge in midfield from a Leeds United opponent. O’Reilly was replaced by Tijjani Reijnders in the 70th minute. Nico O’Reilly has been superb for Manchester City recently so City will be hoping the injury he sustained isn’t too serious.

Final thoughts.

Manchester City face another crucial Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side will be hoping that Haaland and Nico O’Reilly will be available to play in what is another must-win match.
