Warriors' Steve Kerr Downplays Seeding Talk After Blowout Loss

On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Golden State Warriors dropped a golden opportunity to close some distance on the Los Angeles Lakers and the sixth seed, losing 129-101. The defeat is a tough blow for Steve Kerr's team, as the games are slowly ticking away and the Warriors face an uphill battle to avoid the play-in tournament.

During his postgame news conference, Kerr admitted that Golden State faces an uphill battle to avoid the play-in tournament this season. Interestingly, he also claimed that seeding isn't a topic that's discussed with the team behind the scenes.

"It's a lot to make up with 22 games left," Kerr said when asked about Golden State's current seeding. "We don't even talk about it. It's not anything that is worth discussing because we just have to try to go out and see what happens."

The Warriors are also at a disadvantage due to their current injury issues. Stephen Curry, Kristaps Porzingis, Jimmy Butler (out for the season) and Seth Curry have all missed a string of games in recent weeks. Golden State will need its roster as close to full strength as possible if it's going to have any chance of closing the gap on the Lakers and avoiding the play-in tournament at the end of the season.

Golden State will get another chance to try add another win to their season total on Monday, March. 2, when they face the 27-31 Los Angeles Clippers, who currently sit 10th in the West.
