A couple weeks ago, I asked if the Los Angeles Rams would have any interest in looking at Malik Willis as a potential backup? They answer was probably not because of his potential cost, but I didn’t expect that Willis might not only get backup money, but could end up earning starting money as a NFL quarterback.
It’s to be determined which team he goes to, and what exactly his role with the team will be, but people are expecting this young man to really impact the market.
It has to be an exciting time for Willis who by some accounts has plenty of options.
Malik Willis Set For Massive Payday As NFL Free Agency Looms (evrimagaci.org/)
“Malik Willis’ journey from a third-round draft pick with the Tennessee Titans to one of the most coveted free agent quarterbacks in 2026 has been nothing short of remarkable. After two seasons backing up Jordan Love with the Green Bay Packers, Willis now stands on the precipice of a career-defining payday and, most likely, a starting role in the NFL. But as the free agency frenzy heats up, a swirl of quarterback market intrigue, salary cap considerations, and team maneuvering is making his next destination a hot topic across the league.”
And it’s that time of the year, so we have some potential trades in today’s Random Ramsdom.
Hypothetical Rams draft trade moves L.A. into the top-10 (ramswire)
“In 2025, L.A. traded back from No. 26 with the Atlanta Falcons to pick up an extra 2026 first-round pick. That turned into the No. 13 overall selection. L.A. currently owns that pick and their own selection at No. 29.
Davenport’s idea, though, would have the Rams move to the New Orleans Saints’ No. 8 pick without giving up the No. 13 selection. His potential trade includes the Rams sending No. 29, No. 93 (in the third round) and 2027 first-round pick to the Saints for only the No. 8 pick.“
Thanks for checking out today’s Random Ramsdom and have a great Thursday! The weekend is coming.
Former USC wide receiver Robert Woods enters coaching ranks (trojanwire)
“Woods played for Los Angeles from 2017-2021. That stretch consisted of the most successful portion of his career in the league, including winning Super Bowl LVI following the 2021 season.
Prior to his NFL career, Woods played at USC from 2010-2012. As a sophomore in 2011, he set program records, catching 111 passes for 1,292 yards and 15 touchdowns. He was named a Consensus All-American following the season, and was also a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award.“
