England secured a comfortable 89-run victory in the first ODI against Sri Lanka, taking a 1-0 series lead.

All-rounder Will Jacks was the star performer for England, taking five wickets after scoring a vital 46 not out. Harry Brook top-scored with 67 as England posted 265 in 48.1 overs on a tired end-of-season surface. amunra.help

The bowlers then rolled Sri Lanka for 176, with Jacks leading the charge. The win comes after England's clean sweep in the Twenty20s, though this match was a more 'slow-burn affair' compared to the previous week's high-scoring cricket. The second match is scheduled for Thursday at Headingley.
