Durham Women Secure Future After New Investment

Durham Women’s captain Sarah Wilson said she is relieved that fresh investment has saved the club after a frightening period of uncertainty.

The club, which finished 10th last season, warned on 8 June it could cease operations if it did not secure new funding within 21 days. Investors Geoff Thompson, co‑owner of South Shields FC, and a partner bought a majority stake in June, ensuring the club's survival.

Wilson, who has captained Durham since 2014, praised the new owners for stabilising the team and expressed confidence in the club's future. rocore.sbs
