Holmes, Myers Deliver 3‑Hitter in Mets 9-0 Shutout

Clay Holmes and Tobias Myers combined on a three‑hit shutout as the Mets routed the Giants 9‑0, earning the first shutout of the season.

Holmes went seven innings, allowing only three hits, four strikeouts and two walks, while Myers retired the final six batters in order for the Mets’ first shutout of the season. The 9‑0 win featured Mark Vientos with three hits, Tyrone Taylor’s pinch‑hit three‑run homer and four RBIs, and double‑hit contributions from Bichette, Semien and Baty.

Giants’ starter Landen Roupp was knocked early by a defensive error, and the team finished with singles from Chapman, Lee and Encarnacion, dropping to 1‑5 at home. The Mets broke the game open in the fifth with five runs, powered by RBI singles from Bichette and Vientos and Taylor’s homer off Ryan Borucki.
