Bello Robbed of Strikeout, Leaves Red Sox 9-2 Loss

In his season debut, Red Sox pitcher Brayan Bello was robbed of a strikeout, forced to pitch an extra inning, and the team fell 9-2 at Daikin Park.

Bello finished 4.2 innings, 8 hits, 6 runs, 5 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 92 pitches. He was robbed of a strikeout on Cam Smith in the bottom of the fifth, and was forced to continue pitching after recording the third out, which led to a walk and his exit.

Bello said he thought the first pitch was a strike and that Smith swung at the second, but the call was wrong. He tried to get out of the inning but couldn't, and the Red Sox lost 9-2.
