Flyers edge Maple Leafs 3-2 in shootout, extend win streak

Matvei Michkov and Trevor Zegras scored in the shootout as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 on Monday.

Noah Cates scored with 5:18 left in regulation to give Philadelphia a 2-1 lead, but William Nylander tied it on a power-play goal just before the buzzer. The Flyers held on in overtime, with Jamie Drysdale missing a late chance, before Michkov and Zegras sealed the 3-2 shootout victory.

The win extends the Flyers' winning streak to three games, while the Leafs suffer a fourth consecutive loss. Auston Matthews failed to score in the shootout and extended his season-long drought to eight games. Flyers leading scorer Travis Konecny missed the game due to a lower-body injury.
