Phelps: Don't want kids to swim like me

Olympic legend Michael Phelps revealed in a recent interview that he doesn't want his children to follow in his swimming footsteps, citing the mental health challenges he faced during his career.

Michael Phelps, the most decorated swimmer in history, opened up during an appearance on the Whoop Podcast about his struggles with depression and anxiety. "I don't want my kids to swim, I don't want them to go through what I experienced for 20 years," the Olympic champion stated.

Phelps also discussed the future of US swimming for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, expressing concerns about what he perceives as a lack of leadership within the Team USA swimming program.
