Italy wear special red kits for Six Nations vs France

Italy will wear special red jerseys instead of their traditional white strip in their Six Nations match against France, honoring Giuseppe Garibaldi and the Garibaldini.

Italy will debut special scarlet jerseys in their Six Nations clash with France, breaking from tradition as they normally wear white change strips for color clashes. The new "Garibaldi Red" kit commemorates the Italian general who led the country's unification in the 19th century, with his loyal volunteers known as "redshirts."

The tribute connects to the Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy contested annually between Italy and France. Both the men's and women's national teams will wear the special jerseys, with the presentation photoshoot taking place at Quarto dei Mille near Genoa, where Garibaldi launched his famous "Expedition of the Thousand" in 1860.
