Texas Tech's JT Toppin suffers lower leg injury vs Arizona State

Texas Tech star JT Toppin injured his lower right leg late in Tuesday's 72-67 loss to Arizona State, leaving the Red Raiders uncertain about the severity of the injury.

The junior forward was averaging nearly 22 points per game before going down in the paint with 6:03 remaining in the second half. He finished with 20 points and eight rebounds before needing assistance off the court.

Coach Grant McCasland stated the severity is unknown, but the loss of the preseason All-America selection is a major blow to the 13th-ranked team. Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley expressed sympathy for the star player.
