Giants GM Schoen Role Reduced to Scouting

New York Giants GM Joe Schoen has been essentially relegated to running the franchise's scouting staff in John Harbaugh's new organizational structure.

Dawn Aponte, the team's new senior VP of football operations and strategy, now oversees most football operations with reporting directly to Harbaugh. Aponte handles strategic planning, analytics, salary cap management, player contract negotiations, compliance, and works with personnel departments.

Harbaugh, who reports directly to ownership, has final say in personnel matters. The restructuring happened quickly after Harbaugh insisted on having final say in his contract, reducing Schoen's responsibilities significantly.
