Wisconsin Star Seals Bosnia's World Cup Spot

The 21-year-old forward, born in Appleton, Wisconsin to Bosnian parents, converted his spot-kick past Gianluigi Donnarumma to give Bosnia a 4-1 victory in the shootout. The celebration saw Bajraktarević tear off his jersey and sprint toward the Bosnian supporters in a moment of national pride.

Bajraktarević initially represented the United States at youth international levels but opted to switch to Bosnia in 2024. This marks Bosnia's second World Cup appearance, following their debut in Brazil 2014. The team features several players born abroad, including forward Kerim Alajbegović (Germany) and midfielder Dženis Burnić (Germany), who all chose to represent Bosnia internationally.
