Former Chelsea defender Filipe Luis was sacked by Flamengo just hours after the club's 8‑0 win over Madureira, ending his 100‑match spell that yielded seven trophies.

Flamengo announced the dismissal of Filipe Luis, 40, at 00:59 local time, just hours after the club's 8‑0 second‑leg victory over Madureira that secured an 11‑0 aggregate win and a place in the Campeonato Carioca final.

Luis, who guided Flamengo to seven titles in 100 matches since taking over in September 2024, also won the Copa Libertadores in 2025 and previously led the club to the 2019 and 2022 editions as a player.
