Bears-Panthers Sets NFL Week 1 Scoring Record

Published September 13, 2026 · Updated September 13, 2026 · NBC Sports

The Bears set an NFL record for highest-scoring Week 1 game with a 59-37 victory over the Panthers, combining for 96 points.

The previous Week 1 scoring record was 88 points set by the Buccaneers in a 48-40 win over the Saints in 2018. Sunday's game was also the first in NFL history to end with a 59-37 score, though not the most points the Bears have ever scored, as they had 61 in regular season games during 1965 and 1980. rouesnews.click
