Rockies' Rumfield Emerges as Fantasy Surprise

TJ Rumfield, a former 12th-round pick who was never considered a top prospect, is off to a .364/.417/.636 start with the Rockies in 2026.

The first baseman, acquired from the Yankees in January for pitcher Angel Chivilli, has won the starting job at Coors Field. With his strong spring training (.286/.359/.554, five homers) and early-season performance, Rumfield is rostered in just 8% of Yahoo leagues, making him an under-the-radar addition for fantasy managers.

Meanwhile, Rockies outfielder Cam Smith is also heating up, hitting .297/.422/.595 with three homers and three steals in his first 11 games after a disappointing rookie season.
