Khalid Jamil, Anwar Ali positive ahead of India’s historic Brazil clash

The Indian football team head coach Khalid Jamil and centre-back Anwar Ali sounded positive ahead of the most anticipated friendly against Brazil at the Salt Lake Stadium on October 3.

After Brazil were done with their pre-match interaction, the attending media personnel got to see a heartwarming moment when Khalid Jamil entered the press conference hall as Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti was on his way back.

Both of them met, shared a few words and posed for pictures with smiles as India’s press conference began shortly after.

After an impressive 1-1 draw against Panama in Bengaluru, the body language of Khalid and Anwar looked positive ahead of the clash against the world’s fifth-ranked team, Brazil.

Although Khalid did not deny that there is pressure, he highlighted how big an opportunity it is for the players to be playing against the Selecao.

“It’s a good match. Playing against a good team like Brazil, it’s a great opportunity for the players. They are excited and expecting great support tomorrow.”

“Pressure is there. We are only thinking about Brazil. We are just thinking one thing – go out there and play our best.”

Regarding his small interaction with Ancelotti, Khalid said: “He said good luck for the game.”

Star defender Anwar is also looking forward to the clash, saying: “Last match, we played well. Another big game tomorrow and we would like to give our 100%.”

He claimed that following the tactics they have set for Brazil and executing them will be their primary objective.

“We have to follow our plans which we have set. Players just need to execute that and play our best game. Big opportunity for us, will try to make the most of it.”

Talking about the occasion, Anwar clearly mentioned the difference in tactics for Brazil compared to Panama, knowing how Carlo Ancelotti’s men play in general.

“We just have to be calm and everyone knows how Brazil plays. Brazil, Panama, different tactics. So we just have to see how we can go out there and execute our plans.”
