The Brazil-India friendly at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan will have a production setup on a scale rarely seen for an Indian football match, with 26 cameras being deployed to bring the game to viewers.
Speaking to RevSportz, Rajiv Mehra, owner of Kaleidoscope Productions & Services (KPS), said the production team has been preparing extensively for the historic fixture.
“We are actually using 26 cameras in total. Six cameras will be dedicated to the pre-show and mid-show broadcasts, while 20 cameras will cover the main live match action,” Mehra said.
The production will also feature high-speed cameras capable of recording at between 200 and 300 frames per second, allowing the broadcast team to provide detailed and smooth replays of the action.
KPS will also have eight replay machines in operation, something Mehra described as a first for the company in Kolkata.
“Most of our technical crew has come from outside Kolkata. We have been waiting for a long time to manage a setup of this scale, and we are very excited,” he said.
The production team has been working almost continuously since returning from Bengaluru, where it had been involved with the India-Panama fixture. Equipment was brought back to Kolkata on September 28 and 29, following which preparations for the Brazil and Uruguay matches began in full swing.
“Our movement started back on the 21st for Bengaluru. The whole team went to Bengaluru, and on the 28th and 29th, they returned with all the equipment. Since then, we have been working day and night without rest or sleep,” Mehra said.
With a production of this scale, Mehra stressed the importance of preparation and contingency planning.
“There is zero margin for error, so we must have contingency plans for every possible situation. Everything requires detailed planning,” he said.
For KPS, the opportunity to produce a match involving Brazil on Indian soil carries particular significance.
“Being able to handle a project of this magnitude from Kolkata is a matter of great pride for us. Working on such a historic match taking place on Indian soil makes us very proud,” Mehra added.
