Everything to Know About Commonwealth Games
The 2026 Commonwealth Games are officially happening right now. The event started on July 23 and will run until August 2. Glasgow is hosting the Games this time. This marks the fourth time Scotland has welcomed the event. Edinburgh hosted twice before, in 1970 and 1986. Glasgow itself also held the Games back in 2014. xsportfeed.life
This year’s edition feels a bit different for a couple of reasons. It is the first Games since Queen Elizabeth II passed away. That means King Charles III is now the Head of the Commonwealth. It is also the first edition under the new president of the Commonwealth Games Federation. His name is Donald Rukare.
Originally, Victoria in Australia won the bid back in April 2022. But the Victorian government suddenly canceled their plans in July 2023. The reason was simple. The costs were climbing way too high. The city of Gold Coast in Australia briefly offered to step in as a co-host. Some even suggested calling them off completely. Then the Scottish Government officially agreed to host. They also received financial backing from Commonwealth Games Australia.

“I note down whatever I do in different matches and work on them”: Esha Singh

World number 2 shooter Esha Singh once again scripted history as she became India’s only gold medalist so far at the ISSF Hangzhou World Cup. She has been getting recognition far and wide for her brilliance and consistency in the women’s 25m Pistol event. Earlier in May, she set a massive world record by scoring 43/50 at the ISSF Munich World Cup – securing the gold medal in the process. Two months later, she is back again – winning accolades and hearts at the same time.
RevSportz got in touch with Esha and her coach, Ronak Pandit to know their emotions after the huge victory. She stayed at the number 1 position throughout the event; clocking back-to-back perfect scores and even finished with a stellar 10.9. When asked about the secret to her consistency across tournaments, she said, “Yes, I do have expectations regarding my performance but I don’t let it get in the way. I just focus on my process. There is no secret to making those thoughts go away but I think the more you play, the easier it gets because of more experience. I just note down whatever I do in different matches and work on them further in training”.
She also spoke about her Asian Games preparations. “I am very excited for the Asian Games but I think I am going to look at it as just another competition. I keep reminding myself that I am just out here to execute whatever I have worked on for so many days. I won’t change anything.”
Esha’s Coach and eminent shooter Ronak shared his thoughts on Esha’s journey and how the next month and a half are very crucial. “Yes, the Asian Games are coming up but we are not going to name it and unnecessarily make things tougher for us. We didn’t go into Munich, wanting to create a world record. Neither did we come here wanting to win a gold.”
He further added, “We are just trying to work our way towards excellence in the sport. We just pay attention to our areas of improvement- technical, tactical, physical, psychological and try to be 1% better every day. Even today, the discussion is not about winning the gold. Rather, the focus is on what we did right and what we can further do to get better.”
RevSportz also asked what one needs to do to maintain this level of excellence for longer periods. “You can’t deliver the same score every time but you can deliver a good performance every time. You might get a 590 or 585 but whether you get a medal or not also depends on how others perform on that day.
“Seeking consistency in terms of winning medals is not in your hands but consistency in terms of performance is in your hands. If you are clear about what your process is, what are the areas that you need to work on- then it’s easier to stay consistent at the highest level. For example, her performance in Hangzhou was better, even though Munich was a world record and she brought up a higher score. So, we are thinking only in terms of performances and not medals.”

Justin Greaves scripts history with five consecutive wicket maidens during WI vs PAK 1st Test
Port of Spain [Trinidad and Tobago], July 28 (ANI): West Indies’ Justin Greaves scripted history on Monday by becoming the first bowler in Test cricket, since comprehensive records became available, to register five consecutive wicket maidens.
Greaves achieved the feat during a match-changing spell either side of lunch on the third day of the first ICC World Test Championship Test against Pakistan in Trinidad, where he tore through the visitors’ batting line-up, according to the ICC.
The spell also marked Greaves’ maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket. He surpassed the previous record of four successive wicket maidens, registered by former England fast bowler Stuart Broad against South Africa in Johannesburg in January 2016.
Greaves said he kept his approach simple during the spell, following the advice of West Indies captain Roston Chase to bowl consistently in the right areas and trust the process.

“When I came on captain Roston Chase just said ‘continue to be disciplined in what you are doing’ and to see if I can get some wickets for the team," Greaves said, as quoted by ICC.
The ball nipped around and I got some reward. Anytime I get the ball in hand the team looks to me to be that solid player for them (and) try to dig us out of situations. To get five wickets for the first time in Test cricket, I’m really happy, but there’s still a lot of work to do in the game," he added.
Pakistan appeared to be in a strong position to build a sizeable first-innings lead after reaching 244/3, with Shan Masood having completed his century. However, Greaves dismissed the former Pakistan captain to trigger a dramatic collapse.
The West Indies all-rounder then removed Aamer Jamal, Ali Usman and Mohammad Rizwan in successive overs without conceding a run, leaving Pakistan struggling at 267/8 at lunch in reply to the hosts’ first-innings total of 311.

Greaves continued his impressive spell after the break, having Mohammad Abbas caught behind in his opening over to complete five consecutive wicket maidens. Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 282 following a superb display of seam bowling from the experienced right-armer.
However, Pakistan hit back before the close of play, reducing the West Indies to 126/7 and limiting their overall lead to 155. Shamar Joseph, unbeaten on 22, and Kemar Roach, on five, will resume batting on the fourth day. (ANI)
