South Africans to watch in CPL 2026

Quinton de Kock – Barbados Tridents

De Kock returns to Barbados having made his maiden CPL century there in 2024, an explosive 115 off 68 balls against Guyana Amazon Warriors. He has featured for the franchise in three of the last four seasons since making his debut.

George Linde – Barbados Tridents

Linde joins the Tridents after a stint with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the 2023 CPL, where he managed 47 runs from four innings alongside a handful of wickets.

Imran Tahir – Guyana Amazon Warriors

Tahir returns to Guyana having become the first overseas bowler to reach 100 CPL wickets in 2024, and produced his best T20 figures, 5-21, against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in 2025. Tahir is among the highest wicket-takers in the competition’s history.

Dwaine Pretorius – Guyana Amazon Warriors

Pretorius is back at the Warriors having been a strong wicket-taker and run contributor throughout his CPL career, memorably sealing their 2025 playoff spot with a last-ball six against Saint Lucia Kings.

Matthew Breetzke – Trinbago Knight Riders

Breetzke makes his CPL debut and will be looking to bring his explosive SA20 run-scoring, along with his growing IPL experience, to the 2026 edition.

Shadley van Schalkwyk – Saint Lucia Kings

Born in Cape Town, Van Schalkwyk makes his maiden CPL appearance. In the MLC he is Los Angeles Knight Riders’ all-time leading wicket-taker and helped them win a maiden title in a tense 2026 final.
