Pretorius, Esterhuizen power South Africa to tri-series win over Namibia

Pretorius and Esterhuizen put on a rapid opening stand, both striking eight sixes apiece, before Esterhuizen fell to Jan Balt and Pretorius was bowled by Gerhard Erasmus with the total on 227.

Dewald Brevis fell cheaply for 3, while Rubin Hermann added a quick 26. Jan Balt was the pick of the Namibian bowlers with 2-31.

In reply, Namibia were given hope by Jan Frylinck’s 72 off 36 balls and an unbeaten 61 from Louren Steenkamp, with Frylinck and Steenkamp sharing a 119-run opening stand. Gerhard Erasmus finished unbeaten on 30 as Namibia reached 217-3, but the required rate proved too much in the closing overs.

Nqobani Mokoena was the pick of South Africa’s bowlers with 2-43, though he, like the rest of the attack, went at an expensive rate throughout.

South Africa held on to complete an 11-run victory in a high-scoring contest.
