Pitso Mosimane to be announced as Bafana coach, Vincent Tseka to stay?

According to reports, Pitso Mosimane could be unveiled as the new Bafana Bafana head coach as early as this week.

The South African Football Association (SAFA) may have finally reached an agreement with Mosimane following almost three weeks of contract negotiations.

It was initially reported that the former Bafana coach had rejected a R5 million salary package, with SAFA subsequently doubling the offer in an attempt to secure his return to the national team.

Although the two parties appeared to have reached an initial agreement, further stumbling blocks reportedly delayed the finalisation of the deal.

However, according to reports, negotiations have now concluded positively, paving the way for Mosimane to take charge of Bafana Bafana once again.

Pitso Mosimane to return to Bafana?

The potential appointment would mark a sensational return for Mosimane, who remains one of the country’s most decorated coaches.

Another issue reportedly discussed during the negotiations was the future of Bafana team manager Vincent Tseka.

The long-serving SAFA official has faced criticism over the past 12 months, with reports claiming that he had not accounted for approximately R70,000. There had also been speculation that Tseka had retired from his position at the end of July.

However, reports suggest that he could retain his role should Mosimane’s appointment be finalised.

Pitso has not spoken out on the Bafana job in recent weeks but is likely to get the job.

There had also been reports that SAFA was considering Molefi Ntseki as an interim coach if negotiations with Mosimane failed to produce an agreement.

For now, however, the latest reports suggest that SAFA and Mosimane are close to completing the deal, with an official announcement potentially coming this week.

Pitso Mosimane coached Bafana before between 2010 and 2012 where he failed to qualify for the 2012 AFCON.
