The Egypt captain landed at Trabzon Airport on Wednesday evening alongside club president Ertuğrul Doğan. Thousands of supporters gathered to welcome Salah, completing a day that began with a separate reception at Istanbul Atatürk Airport.

Trabzonspor had arranged free public transport for the Trabzon welcome and asked supporters to limit the use of flares to avoid disrupting airport operations.

The 34-year-old travelled from Istanbul after passing his medical examinations at Acıbadem Maslak Hospital. He then signed his contract at Doğan’s office before boarding a private plane to the Black Sea city.

“We signed in my office a short time ago. Now we will fly to Trabzon together,” Doğan told Tivibu Spor. The president said the parties completed the transfer within four or five days of entering advanced negotiations.

Trabzonspor subsequently referred to Salah as their “new signing,” confirming that Thursday’s event will be a public presentation rather than the contractual signing.

Salah first arrived in Istanbul from the Greek island of Mykonos shortly before midday. He came out of the General Aviation Terminal wearing Trabzonspor’s claret-and-blue shirt and greeted hundreds of waiting supporters.

The former Liverpool forward applauded the crowd and led a traditional Turkish football chant before leaving in Doğan’s car. Trabzonspor also published footage of Salah wearing a No.61 shirt aboard the plane.

“Trabzon, are you ready? I can hear you. See you very soon. Everywhere is Trabzon,” he said.

Trabzonspor have not yet disclosed Salah’s complete financial package or officially confirmed the reported two-year duration.

Doğan said the club would publish the contract terms through Turkey’s Public Disclosure Platform on Wednesday evening or Thursday.

He previously confirmed that the agreement gives Salah a percentage of revenue from shirt sales. However, he rejected reports that the player’s share would reach 20%.

A similar commercial demand contributed to the collapse of Salah’s negotiations with Beşiktaş, as KingFut previously reported.

Doğan also revealed that Trabzonspor first contacted Salah’s representative during the World Cup. The talks accelerated when agent Ramy Abbas returned to the club after discussions with other teams ended.

Salah joins on a free transfer after ending his nine-year Liverpool career with 257 goals in 442 appearances and eight major trophies.

Le Mans: Team Qatar successfully completed its first-ever appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Sunday, June 14, 2026, reaching the chequered flag after an impressive and determined performance in one of motorsport’s most prestigious events.

Competing at Le Mans for the first time, Team Qatar by Iron Lynx rose to the challenge of the iconic endurance race with pace and professionalism, bringing home the Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 entry after more than 320 laps of the Circuit de la Sarthe.

Starting 12th on the LMGT3 starting grid, the car shared by Abdulla Al-Khelaifi, Julian Hanses and Giuliano Alesi established itself in the fight from the opening stages of the race, immediately settling into the rhythm of the twice-around-the-clock contest. Team Qatar climbed the order of the ultra-competitive class, rising to as high as second place at one stage, a
remarkable achievement for a team making its Le Mans debut.

As the race evolved, in hot, clear conditions, the team executed its strategy perfectly, with Hanses taking over from Abdulla’s initial triple stint, before Alesi continued the momentum into the night. Navigating traffic, yellow flags, Safety Cars, and more than 30 pit stops for fuel, tyres and driver changes, Team Qatar remained firmly in contention for a strong finish.

But as the 24-hour race continued, suspension issues forced the car into the garage for repairs. Despite losing valuable time, the decision was taken to rectify the problem and continue to the finish, underlining the perseverance and resilience that have characterised the team’s efforts throughout the week.

To epitomise how gruelling this race is, eight runners from the class were forced to retire. "It was an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end. I was very happy that we stuck to the race and made it to the finish. I'm really proud of my team-mates and everyone at Team Qatar and Iron Lynx,” said Abdulla Al-Khelaifi. “This is a historic moment for the whole team, and to get to the finish, we never gave up.

Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Athletics Federation (QAF) has announced the selection of six athletes to represent Qatar at the World Athletics U20 Championships to be held in Oregon, USA, from August 5-9.

The list includes four athletes in field events: Abdullah Al Abdullah (pole vault), Abdulrahman Al Maliki (high jump), Abdulrahman Ibrahim (hammer throw), and Hamad Dhawi (discus throw). The other two athletes are in track events: Youssef Abdulaziz (400m) and Mohammed Waheed (1500m). QAF said that the national team athletes have completed their preparations and aim to achieve the best results at the meet while continuing the successes of Qatari athletics at all levels.

QAF had organised overseas training camps for athletes in Europe and Africa over the past months in preparation for forthcoming championships.

Doha, Qatar: Al Wakrah have wrapped up their pre-season training camp in Rennes, France, after more than two weeks of intensive preparations ahead of the 2026-2027 campaign.

Held from July 17 to August 2, the camp formed a key part of the Blue Wave’s build-up to the new season, with head coach Jose Luis Sierra focusing on improving the squad’s fitness, tactical organisation and overall cohesion.

The French camp also gave Sierra and his technical staff an opportunity to assess new signings alongside established players as they worked on shaping the squad for the challenges of the upcoming season.

Al Wakrah played four friendly matches during the camp, opening with a 2-0 victory over Stade Brestois before suffering defeats to Nantes (5-1), Caen (4-1) and FC Roanne (1-0). Despite the mixed results, the matches provided valuable competitive minutes and helped the coaching staff evaluate the team’s progress.

The club have strengthened their squad with the additions of Rabeh Boussafi, Mohamed Ibrahim (Simo) and Tameem Mansour. They join a group that includes Luis Alberto, Lucas Mendes, Amin Zahzouh, Aissa Laidouni, Jacinto Dala, Gerard Valentín, Hamdy Fathy, Redouane Berkane, Ayoub Assal, Almahdi Ali and goalkeeper Mohammed Al Bakri.

Al Wakrah finished eighth in the 2025-2026 Doha Bank Stars League with 27 points after recording seven wins, six draws and nine defeats. They scored 32 goals and conceded 36 over the course of the campaign.

The Blue Wave will now shift their attention to the opening round of the 2026-2027 Doha Bank Stars League, where they face Qatar SC at Lusail Stadium on August 20. Sierra’s side will be aiming to improve on last season’s league finish and make a stronger impact in domestic competitions.
