One of the biggest debates on social media since the Tennessee Titans hired Robert Saleh as head coach has been how mammoth defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat fits into the new defense being installed. It's a great question, and finally, fans have some insight into what the organization is thinking.
On Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine, Saleh met with the media and touched on Sweat and his fit in the new system, and his answer may surprise some of those who doubted Sweat.
Saleh started by comparing Sweat to veteran defensive tackle Al Woods, who has a similar skill set and has worked well within his system. Stating “Sweat plays numbers to numbers, and has great feet and speed given his massive size.”

While this is the initial assessment from the film, much of the transition will be on Sweat putting in the work to complete the transition into the new system. Saleh did say it will be a difficult transition and that Sweat will be asked to take on new responsibilities in the system.
There is no doubt that Sweat has the talent to make an impact in the Titans' system, and with him motivated to work in the offseason with Jeffery Simmons, Sweat could make a significant jump this offseason. But this situation must be monitored once offseason team activities (OTAs) begin.
