The Toronto Maple Leafs were without one of their leaders at practice on Tuesday.
Assistant captain John Tavares missed the session with the flu, the team announced.
Tavares, 35, has 20 goals and 27 assists in 57 games with Toronto this season.
In some good practice news, William Nylander was back on the ice in Toronto for the first time since representing Sweden at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Nylander had two goals and two assists in five Olympic games before the Swedes were eliminated in the quarterfinals against the U.S.
Auston Matthews, who captained the Americans to a gold medal, was not at practice.
The Maple Leafs play their first game back from the Olympic break on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
With 25 games remaining, Toronto sits seventh in the Atlantic Division with a 27-21-9 record.
