VIDEO: District-champion Central Bobcats ready to make a run in the postseason

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — After winning the first district championship in 14 years, the San Angelo Central High School boys basketball team is poised to make some noise in the playoffs.

The Bobcats are 28-5 and they’re taking an eight-game win streak into Tuesday’s Class 6A bi-district matchup against El Paso Coronado (19-12). Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Monanans.

Coronado has dropped four of its last five games.

We caught up with Bobcats head coach Arsenio Geter, who has engineered a remarkable season in his second year with the team.

“Man, just the excitement around the town, you go to one of our games and it’s a packed house,” said Geter, who coached the Central girls before taking over the boys’ team last season. “It’s been a packed house, all district, and it makes it easy for the kids to get excited.

And when they’re excited, they play harder. And so we love our home games and the advantage that we get from our home quarter advantage. So it’s been a lot of fun and we hope to keep the ride going. We hope everybody comes out and supports us if they can tomorrow night in Monahans.”
