The draw for the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal took place on late on Sunday evening, following the conclusion of the quarter-finals 12 days ago.
It is an all-Bundesliga affair in the semi-finals with all four teams coming from the first division, as Hertha Berlin and Holstein Kiel were the last non-Bundesliga sides to be knocked out in the previous round.
The four Bundesliga sides are Bayern Munich, VfB Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg.
Bayern beat RB Leipzig 2-0 in the quarters, Stuttgart and Leverkusen both beat Kiel and St.Pauli 3-0, while Freiburg needed penalties to overcome Hertha.
Out of all four teams, Bayern are the team experiencing the longest drought of not reaching the DFB Pokal final, having last made the final in 2020. While Freiburg were finalists in 2022, Leverkusen and Stuttgart are the previous two winners.
