Cowboys, Bears, Seahawks considered landing spots for $50 million pending free agent

With the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears likely to be in the market for a cornerback, they could be vying for the same free agents in 2026.

One of the more high-profile players slated to hit the open market is Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright.

USA TODAY's Nate Davis pegs all three teams as possible landing spots for the projected $50 million cornerback.

Here's Davis' thoughts on Wright's free agency bid:

Though he's already 27, he's hardly a finished product. He's also a 6-4, 199-pound corner who led the NFL with eight takeaways (5 INTs, 3 fumble recoveries) after becoming a surprise starter (and surprise first-time Pro Bowler) for the Chicago Bears. The upside and production spike are going to make Wright rich.

Best fits: Bears, Seahawks, Cowboys

We agree with Davis that Wright could do very well in free agency.

After being an afterthought over his first four years in the NFL, Wright thrived in a bigger role with the Bears last season.

Wright finished with a completion rate allowed of 61.2% and an 86.8 passer rating when targeted. Wright also proved to be an asset against the run with a 72.9 Pro Football Focus grade in that area.

Seeing as how Wright is going to be starting on the boundary somewhere in 2026, we would not expect the Seahawks to have interest in him unless Josh Jobe leaves.

Granted, Seattle would still need more depth even if Jobe returns given the fact that Riq Woolen is likely gone, but spending significant money on Wright to address that need is highly unlikely.

We would suspect the Bears will definitely have interest in bringing Wright back given the hole he'd leave behind, but Chicago could get priced out thanks to their salary cap space situation that has the Bears $4.1 million over currently.

The Cowboys' need at cornerback is more dire than Chicago's and Seattle's. Trevon Diggs is gone, DaRon Bland has not lived up to his contract thus far and hasn't been able to stay healthy, and the jury is still out on Shavon Revel.

The problem for the Cowboys is that they are in a rough spot financially, with the team being $24.5 million over the cap, which will make it hard for Dallas to compete for any high-priced free agent.

We would peg the Seahawks as the favorite to sign Wright given their wealth of cap space, but only if Jobe doesn't return.

If Jobe returns and Seattle is not in the market for a starter, the Bears become the more likely landing spot, with the Cowboys falling in behind Chicago.
