Liverpool have recently taken steps to shore up the future of their backline for the long term.
The headline arrivals are Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet - with that pair expected to dominate the defence at Anfield for the next decade or so.
Leoni came in for an initial £26m from Parma last summer but his first season on Merseyside has been cut short due to injury. Next season however he will be slotting back into the club’s first-team plans - alongside fellow new arrival Jeremy Jacquet.
The 20-year-old Frenchman will join from Rennes in a deal worth up to £62m - although he too is currently out injured.
Liverpool looking at generational talent Vuskovic
And in the new-look defence we could also see places for younger prospects in the shape of Mor Talla Ndiaye, Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Noah Adekoya - whose signings have all been ratified by Richard Hughes.

But the changes won’t end there with a report in Sports Boom now claiming that Luka Vuskovic is very much a name in the frame for decision-makers at Anfield.
A deal for the Croatian teenager was initially agreed between Hajduk Split and Tottenham Hotspur back in 2023 for the 6’4 defensive colossus.
Real Madrid and PSG also interested in Vuskovic
The now-18-year-old finally moved to North London last summer for around £12m - and was sent on loan to Bundesliga side Hamburg for the 2025/26 season.
His form has caught the eye of several top European clubs according to the report with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League teams including Manchester City and Liverpool sending scouts to Hamburg.
Indeed the report states that Madrid see Vuskovic as a “generational” talent while Barcelona admire his “elite” ball-carrying abilities.
