Indianapolis Colts interior offensive lineman Danny Pinter is set to be a free agent this upcoming offseason.
So what might his next contract look like, and will the Colts re-sign him?
Danny Pinter contract projection
According to Spotrac, Pinter is projected to sign a one-year deal in free agency worth $2.399 million. Among centers, this would rank 24th in average annual value. Pinter will be entering his age 30 NFL season.
In terms of player age, contract status, and statistical production, Josh Jones, Rashod Hill, and Mike Caliendo were used by Spotrac as comparisons to determine what Pinter's deal could be.
Will the Colts re-sign Danny Pinter?
GM Chris Ballard could look to go younger here when addressing the Colts' interior offensive line depth. However, my guess is that Pinter returns.
The Colts' current depth chart along the offensive line is very short on experience behind the starting five. Pinter's veteran presence could certainly provide some value, not to mention that he can help out at center or guard if needed.
This also isn't a contract that will break the bank, and if the Colts needed to get out of this deal during roster cutdowns, they could do so relatively easily with minimal dead cap.
