Filip Chytil can’t catch a break.
The veteran centre will be out indefinitely after suffering a facial fracture at a Vancouver Canucks practice earlier this week.
Head coach Adam Foote announced the injury on Friday.
Chytil, who has already been limited to only 12 games this season due to two unrelated head injuries, may need surgery, Foote added.
The injury occurred Wednesday as the Canucks players who are not at the Olympics took part in a practice. Chytil was hit in the cheek by a deflected puck and left the skate early for X-rays, which confirmed the fracture.
The nine-year veteran has dealt with concussions throughout his career, including missing three months earlier this season with one. Now he has a new injury to contend with as he looks to restart his NHL career.
