It was another close call for Marion Thenault at the Winter Olympics.
For the second Winter Games in a row, the Canadian finished one spot out of advancing to the six-woman second final in women’s aerials on Wednesday.
Kaila Kuhn of the U.S. (105.93 points) pushed Thenault (103.89 points) down to seventh with her second and final jump as the second-last competitor in the first final.
Thenault, 25, had one more chance, but couldn’t beat Kuhn’s score.
“I’m disappointed because I felt so good,” Thenault told CBC Olympics. “I knew I still have more in me, but I landed a bit deep on my two jumps in the final. I should have landed better.”
The Sherbrooke, Que., native earned a bronze in her Olympic debut in 2022 in mixed team relay.
Thenault won two silver medals on the World Cup circuit this year.
Despite the disappointment of not being able to compete for a medal, Thenault said she was proud of her effort.
“It was really hard coming back from injuries and doubts, but today I was feeling good and I was jumping well,” she said. “I was proud to be here. That work itself is very valuable.”
